DIY Pom-Pom Curtain
Every year during spring/summer time I make a few changes to the house. You know just to spruce it up a bit maybe add some pillows, indoor plants mainly the accessories and little things but nothing major. As renters we always have a lot of restriction as to what we can do. Last year I was totally for the removable wallpaper ( there is a fun post on wallpapers right here ). This year I though about changing the window treatments. Today’s diy pom-pom curtain project is all about adding a different soft textured fabric to your homes with pops of summer colors.
Asparagus Egg Fried Rice
I have been trying to eat healthy for some time now, however tend to go off the track on vacations and sometime on weekends too. But I guess it’s okay to have a donut or a slice of pizza once in a while, right? But these days if you go to the super market, the produce is so fresh and colorful that I go overboard and have to stop myself from buying too much. If you are lucky you may even have a farmer’s market close to your house. One of my favorites veggie is Asparagus! grilled, sautéed, blanched .. I love it in any form. Today’s asparagus egg fried rice recipe is a healthy one with brown rice and a secret ingredient you can use for any kind of fried rice recipes you make in future ! so follow along.
Camping Trip // Garner State Park
Last memorial day weekend we went on a camping trip with a couple of our friends to Garner State Park in Concan,Tx. Its a beautiful and a pretty huge park, like really huge. Honestly, I never knew I would get to see mountains, valleys and river banks in the heart of Texas. The gorgeous frio river runs through the park which was flooded due to the rains but was still beautiful. Speaking of floods, yes we did see the weather forecast before leaving on saturday however there was no indication of a tornado warning at that time. Getting caught in the storm, that too twice! not pretty guys (did get caught on our way back too , more on that later) . So Garner State Park is about 4 and a half hours drive from Houston. We decided to leave saturday late afternoon and halt at town called Uvalde, close to the park (30mins) so that we could make it to the hike tour at the park in the morning at 9.

AltSummit Checklist & Prep
Okay so this is my first time attending alt summer 2015 (organized by the altitudesummit) and I’m super excited. Alt Summit is a business conference for bloggers and creatives and happens twice a year in salt lake city, Utah. They have had conferences in other cities too and the best part is that it is open to all. With just 8 days more to go and so much more to do, I thought I would share a little bit of my prep with you guys. With a little research and help from fellow bloggers I have finally figured out what a media kit is and why it necessary to have one for such conferences. I have also printed out the business cards before hand (did a whole post on that here). Wardrobe is taken care off too except for one pink dress which I would need for the garden party. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. I’m kind of nervous since it’s my first time attending but at the same time super excited to meet new people, speakers, bloggers and other creatives. There are a few more details which I need to work on and so I thought it would of great help if I just had a checklist to get things organized.
So I figured why not make a printable one which I could share with you guys and since we are going for a summer summit, I kind of wanted to make one with that vibe. I have filled out mine and I’m sharing that one too, in case any of you are carrying the same things as me. But if not, no worries, I have two different versions for you! Download them all at the end of this post.

AltSummit Checklist 1 , AltSummitChecklist 2 , AltSummitMyChecklist
I will definitely be doing a detailed post on the summit and my experiences later so stay tuned for that.
have a great week ahead guys !
Current Trends-Cacti
I thought of starting a new column on designforsoul dedicated to current trends. Recently I have noticed that when something becomes popular on social media, everyone starts making and interpreting their creative versions of the trend. Macarons, donuts, eye print, flamingos are just to name a few. So I thought it will be fun to do round ups of the trends I like for you guys and just to make it more fun and interesting, I will be sharing some art prints/ wallpapers for you to download at the end of the post!
Beginning with Current Trends-Cacti used in so many different ways. Here are some of my favs.
love it as an accent in this room specially with those blush tones
how cool is this watercolor wallpaper from anewalldecor.

DIY Emoji Summer Tote Bags
Hey there! hope you all had a good long weekend. We went camping with a few friends and it was total fun! No internet or tv for two whole days.. more conversations, hiking, enjoying nature and taking it all in. That said it was a great getaway and I will soon be sharing a blog post on that with all the details.
Today’s post about DIY emoji summer tote bags is an extension or part two of last week’s DIY emoji snack boxes. Summer is here and so are the vacation times. You can totally jazz up your tote bags/ beach bags with these wooden emojis ( guest posted the tutorial here on lemonthistle.com). I’m also thinking fridge magnets, t-shirts, party invites and more.. let your imagination run wild.. The best part is I’m using velcro for the bags so that you can reuse them for other projects. Since they are made of wood they are durable and long lasting! super cheap too…
Share your projects pics on instagram with the hashtag ( #dfsprojects ) and I will be happy to share them here on the blog!
Have a great week ahead !
