8 Pins/ Inspiring Pastel Color Combos

March 26, 2015

Designers need their dose of visual energy every now and then. Back then it was magazines, advertisement banners, store catalogs, travel diaries and more. Although these will always continue to inspire us , these days pinterest is also a pretty popular forum. This season I am leaning towards the pastel color palette and these are some of the pins that are inspiring me right now. It could be anything , a color combo, a texture, a photoshoot that could trigger other ideas and I’m definitely getting a lot of them right now. Can’t wait to get on with some new projects.

Mini Paprika Potato Bites

March 20, 2015

Hey guys, its FRIDAY already ! This week really went by very fast for me. Today I’m sharing one of my favorite snack recipes. Its simple, fast and you can totally try it over the weekend. Its spicy and tangy.. two of my fav savory flavors.

1a

You Need:  Small sack of mini potatoes, Paprika ( I am using one from McCormick ), garlic, mint, lemon, thai green chillies, coriander, salt, pepper and olive oil.

Procedure:

Pre heat the oven to 500F. Boil the potatoes till almost cooked. If you are using the microwave just cling wrap it and cook for 4 mins. If boiling in a pan, make sure you have the potatoes covered about an inch. Once done let them cool down and them smash them gently with with any flat object. I used my kitchen knife itself ( I love this 8inch knife from cuisinart ). Line a baking sheet with foil and spread the smashed potatoes on it. Apply olive oil and sprinkle with chopped garlic, salt and paper. Bake for about 10-15 mins till the edges turn golden brown and the cover is crisp. Once done arrange them in the serving dish and sprinkle paprika from top.

For the Mint Chutney:

In a blender mix together 1 cup coriander leaves, 1 cup fresh mint leaves, 1tbsp freshly squeezed lime juice , a pinch of salt and 2-3 small thai green chillies. If you do not like the taste of coriander you could use 2 cups of mint instead.

DIY Table Napkins

March 18, 2015

Hey there! How’s the week going so far? Today I am sharing a super easy DIY Table napkin tutorial with you guys . As you might have noticed in my previous DIY posts most of them involve paints in some or the other way. I love painting and am constantly thinking of different ways they can be used in everyday projects. The Easter egg decor involved spray painting with toothbrush and do you remember the ‘Strokes’ painting series that I started? I know I’m a lil behind on that but there will more posts coming up soon on that, promise! For now follow along on this easy DIY project to make your table pretty and ready for Spring!

You Need:

Fabric Squares – Any craft store will have them . I got mine from Hobby Lobby and they were just $1.99 a piece.

Paints- You could use any fabric or craft paints that you have. I used acrylic colors which I already had.

Sharpie- I am using a yellow brush tip fabric sharpie to draw the outline of the shapes on the fabric.

Gold Marker- I am using this one from Pen-Touch. However you could use any gold marker with the thickness of your choice

Oh and the cute little glasses you see in the pictures below are (my favs) from OhJoy! for Target collection.

DIY Easter Egg Decor

March 16, 2015

11

This weekend we were lucky to get some sunshine here in Houston in almost 2 weeks. So I gathered all my stuff and quickly got on to completing some pending DIY projects . Why you ask ? would you rather go out and have a nice brunch and enjoy the weather while sipping mimosas? Well you know for us bloggers lighting is everything ! We strive to get all the pictures clicked when sun is being generous ( specially when he appeared once in 2 weeks). I am sure most of you will agree with me on this one. Oh and when the project involves using confetti in any way , that’s my biggest incentive right there!

Easter is right around the corner and the internet is already filled with ideas tons of decoration ideas. Here is one more to add to the collection. Easy DIY egg decor idea with paint some sharpie pens. It’s a little messy but that’s what makes it more fun and you could involve your kids to participate in it too.

Here is what you need: A packet of decor eggs. I used these from Hobby Lobby, Brush Tip Sharpie Pens, a Gold marker, spare toothbrush preferably with hard bristles, and any craft paint. I used these acrylic paints I already had.
