Hey guys I’m super stoked and excited to be sharing my DIY project on one of my favorite blog, Designlovefest today!
The inspiration for this DIY Taco Stand came from a dinner party I hosted recently. Tacos was one of the items I was serving and just did not have anything to serve it on. At the time I managed by putting a tooth-pick through to hold them together. I know a lot of times all the ingredients are kept on the table and people just pick and make their own tacos. However, I just wanted to serve the stacked tacos as there were other dishes on the table too and I kind of wanted everything to look neat and less messy.
It is a super easy and very functional project. Head on over to designlovefest for all the info and a step by step tutorial.

DIY Matisse Inspired Pouch
Hey guys I’m back after a break of almost a week! Hope you guys are having a fun summer. A lot is going on, on my end, future travel being one of them. But I’ll save that for another post later. Today however, lets talk about art and an amazing artist, Henri Matisse!
I love when I can combine an artistic inspiration with a diy project. Matisse (1869-1964) was a french artist, sculptor and print-maker but mainly known for his modern paintings. What I love the most about his work is his use of shapes and bold colors. This painting of his is one of my favorites. That combined with a little a gold and leather obsession was the inspiration for today’s DIY Matisse Inspired Pouch tutorial. Its super easy and you can get the whole project done under $10.
Favorite summer color
What’s your favorite summer color this year? I have been leaning towards this shade of summer yellow a lot. Pantone is calling it ‘Mimosa’. Last year I was more into pastel shades but this year somehow I have been drawn to bright warm hues. Wanted to share some of my choices with ya!
Last month at Alt Summit Summer 2015 (see full post here & here) , Sherwin Williams was one of our event sponsors and they were handing out these pretty swatch cards promoting their summer color collection. My eye just went directly to this ‘decisive yellow’ shade. Trust me guys if I had a renovation going on right now, I would be definitely be using this one.
I do however, plan on painting my coffee table with it or accent a chair.

Designforsoul // Journey so far
Hey you guys! just wanted to share a little bit with you on designforsoul’s journey so far. I started this blog about 8 months ago. It became a place where I shared my creative ideas and thoughts. This last week however I felt that I needed to set some goals in order to achieve what I want to with DFS. For that I needed to step back, contemplate and do a little brainstorming. That is also the reason why you haven’t seen any new posts on the blog this week. I’m also attending AltSummer2015 this year at AltSummit in June. I’m hoping to meet new people, fellow bloggers, brands and learn whatever I can from these creative minds and get a much needed fresh perspective.
Internet these days can get a little overwhelming. You see same/ repetitive ideas happening around. Frankly I needed a break from that. I remember in design school we used to often get these creative blocks after working on something for a long time. I’m planning to do a few things from what we used to do then to kind of get out of it. One of them is travel! See new things , open your eyes and senses and see the same world in a different light.
I have been busy this week thinking about introducing some new columns on Designforsoul, including more of my artwork, also featuring other artists. I did this when I started the blog but kind of drifted away from it . So all in all I want to do something different on Designforsoul this year! Bring a fresh new perspective and it all starts from this weekend.
My husband & I are traveling to Madison,WI for our anniversary. Why Madison ? well it’s my husband’s college town which he wanted to show me for quite sometime now and I have never been there before so it’s going to be fun. Also, traveling always inspires me with a lot of new ideas. Hopefully this trip will be the first step to the new journey I want to take with Designforsoul. I promise the next coming weeks on the blog will be more fun filled with new ideas and inspirations.
P.S. You can follow me on instagram all along for the pics and the latest updates! Love you guys for reading!
xo,varsha!

DIY Marble Finish Candlestands
Holidays are here and everyone is looking for the perfect gift ideas for friends and family. This DIY project is super easy and can make a wonderful gift . From dinner tables to consoles to mantles, candles are such a huge part of the holiday decor . These candle holders are super fun and you could make them in different colors too. For this one we are using black and white to mimic the marble stone finish.
Bake the ramekin in the oven o low heat for about 20 mins. Let it cool and then remove from the mold and level the top with the cutter/knife.
Inspiration: This post on DesignSponge.
Hope you enjoy making them !
