AltSummit Checklist & Prep

June 1, 2015

Okay so this is my first time attending alt summer 2015 (organized by the altitudesummit) and I’m super excited. Alt Summit is a business conference for bloggers and creatives and happens twice a year in salt lake city, Utah. They have had conferences in other cities too and the best part is that it is open to all. With just 8 days more to go and so much more to do, I thought I would share a little bit of my prep with you guys. With a little research and help from fellow bloggers I have finally figured out what a media kit is and why it necessary to have one for such conferences. I have also printed out the business cards before hand (did a whole post on that here). Wardrobe is taken care off too except for one pink dress which I would need for the garden party. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. I’m kind of nervous since it’s my first time attending but at the same time super excited to meet new people, speakers, bloggers and other creatives. There are a few more details which I need to work on and so I thought it would of great help if I just had a checklist to get things organized.
So I figured why not make a printable one which I could share with you guys and since we are going for a summer summit, I kind of wanted to make one with that vibe. I have filled out mine and I’m sharing that one too, in case any of you are carrying the same things as me. But if not, no worries, I have two different versions for you! Download them all at the end of this post.

I will definitely be doing a detailed post on the summit and my experiences later so stay tuned for that.
have a great week ahead guys !

DIY Emoji Summer Tote Bags

May 27, 2015

Hey there! hope you all had a good long weekend. We went camping with a few friends and it was total fun! No internet or tv for two whole days.. more conversations, hiking, enjoying nature and taking it all in. That said it was a great getaway and I will soon be sharing a blog post on that with all the details.
Today’s post about DIY emoji summer tote bags is an extension or part two of last week’s DIY emoji snack boxes. Summer is here and so are the vacation times. You can totally jazz up your tote bags/ beach bags with these wooden emojis ( guest posted the tutorial here on lemonthistle.com). I’m also thinking fridge magnets, t-shirts, party invites and more.. let your imagination run wild.. The best part is I’m using velcro for the bags so that you can reuse them for other projects. Since they are made of wood they are durable and long lasting! super cheap too…

DIY Mother’s Day Cards

April 29, 2015

Hey there! how’s the week going so far ? for me , its pretty busy . I’m planning on starting weekly columns on the blog, just to get some order and be a little consistent on the content. Also, its mainly for me and my procrastinating habit. I have to commit to myself before I commit to you guys, so wish me luck! Speaking of commitment, I’m sharing another project for mother’s day as promised. Today we are making DIY Mother’s Day Cards with pom poms y’all!

You could make them in a couple of mins literally. All fathers can make them with their kids. They are so cute I tell ya! I’m gonna mail one to my mom.

DOG FAMILY PORTRAIT

April 20, 2015

Hey there! How was your weekend? Well mine was totally action packed. After a week of gloomy weather and rain the sun finally showed up on Sunday. I quickly got to completing all the pending photo shoots. You know how important good lighting is for us bloggers. So last week I completed a commissioned dog family portrait for a family and handed it over on Friday. So today I can share the pictures with you. Enjoy!

It feels nice to see the reaction of people when I hand over the paintings. I’m a bit nervous and anxious at the same time. I keep thinking if it turned out the way they wanted it or is it going to be a disappointment. Well, I’m happy to say they loved it. Which is the case most of the times except this one time , I dint really understand what the client was thinking. It was a picture of a tree he had clicked in Hawaii and wanted me to paint it. I tried my best and he said he liked it however, I thought he was looking for something more. Well we all learn from our experiences, don’t we? But when they do like it , I am just so happy can’t really express into words. All the effort and emotion I put in the artwork is totally worth it when it brings a smile on someone’s face.

Have a great week ahead guys and stay tuned for some fun DIY projects coming up this week.

xo,

Varsha

Which artwork goes best with my room?

February 10, 2015

Have you ever come across an artwork/painting which you really loved but then thought “where would this go?” “should I put this in the living room or bedroom?” art goes hand in hand with the rest of your home décor and helps set the tone of the room. As an artist myself i feel subconsciously we all gravitate towards art that clicks an emotional chord with us somewhere. Well i think that’s your answer! Go with whatever connects with you the most. You would probably face the same question above when you come across a piece of furniture or any other home accessories too. At the end of the day when you look back, you will see that that your home is actually the reflection of who you are. It builds up a character around the things you like and the stories you want tell. Here are pics of some rooms /spaces that I am going ga ga over. I love how the artwork in each of the rooms sets the mood and blends in with the rest of the décor.

Oh and in case you are an art collector or just looking to buy some paintings in near future you should totally checkout this site called invaluable.com. They are one of the largest online auction marketplaces of fine and decorative arts, antiques, collectibles, and estate sales.
